Nowadays, fresh water is considered a scarce resource in some parts of the world, and this has become a global problem due to population growth and water pollution. I think that to solve this problem, governments should invest in building water treatment plants, and individuals can raise their awareness about protecting water resources.
As the world’s population increases to about 70 million people each year, the fresh water demand of families also rises. In some underdeveloped or overpopulated countries, poor water treatment plants are unable to provide sufficient fresh water to families having a lot of members, so people have to use salt water. When the demand increases, industries want to not only enhance their productivity but also save costs. Saving costs is the reason why factories often discharge waste into water instead of treating it, and this can affect the amount of available freshwater.
Governments should invest in building water treatment plants to supply more fresh water for everyone. The outdated water treatment plants in some underdeveloped countries should be replaced by high-quality plants, which can satisfy increasing water demand of households and industries. These plants should be built everywhere in the countries to make sure that the shortage of fresh water can be controlled, and people have enough water to use every day.
In addition, individuals need to raise their awareness about limiting throwing litter into water environments around them. People can take part in outdoor environmental activities or find helpful tips online to learn more about practical lessons teaching how to protect and save the water resource.
In conclusion, fresh water is limited in some parts of the world partly because of population growth and water population. If governments focus more on constructing freshwater treatment plants, and individuals have higher environmental awareness, the fresh water problem can be solved.
