Nowadays, fresh water is an essential resource in people’s lives. I think that the demand for fresh water is increasing because of population growth and industrial and agricultural development. Therefore, I believe that governments should enhance public awareness about saving water and increase the price of water to reduce waste; individuals should turn off taps when they are not using them and avoid wasting water in daily life.
The causes of the increasing demand for fresh water are rapid population growth and industrial and agricultural development. When the population grows, more people need more water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and doing the laundry. Industrial development increases the demand for fresh water because factories need a large amount of water resources for manufacturing and cleaning equipment. Farms also need more water to plant vegetables and feed livestock. Therefore, the demand for fresh water increases significantly.
Governments and individuals can deal with this problem with some measures. People can know about the lack of fresh water and saving water, if governments enhance their knowledge through education and the media. When governments raise the price of fresh water, individuals will use less water and save water better. Individuals should try to save water in their daily lives by simple measures such as turning off taps when they are not using them and avoiding wasting water. People can save a large amount of fresh water when they use water efficiently.
In conclusion, population growth and the development of industry and agriculture are the causes of increasing global demand for fresh water. I believe that to solve this problem, governments should try to enhance public awareness about saving water and increasing the price of water, while individuals should turn off taps when they are not using them, and avoid wasting water.
