In the contemporary era, the number of crimes is rising day by day, and the media and newspaper journalists try to report them. Some people say that the media influences people negatively, so journalists should not report every detail. However, others believe that there are many benefits, such as informing people about current events and warning them about different types of crimes. In my view, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
On the one hand, giving detailed descriptions of crimes in newspapers and on TV has a negative effect on people, especially children. This is because some people watch the media with their children, and children tend to learn things quickly. As a result, they may imitate what they have seen, and this may lead them to the criminal world; the media can damage their positive qualities, such as being polite, responsible, and hardworking.
On the other hand, there are some positive effects which are beneficial to the public. Firstly, the media help to inform people about current events. This is because people can learn where crimes have occurred and who the criminals are. For instance, if people are not aware of recent crimes in their area, they may become victims of lawbreakers. Moreover, another major benefit is that the media warn the public about different types of crimes. For example, a famous film was called “Beekeeper” by David Ayer. This film shows the criminal world, and the media does not report every detail to the public. As a consequence, many people suffer from criminals, especially older people. However, if journalists reported the breaking news, many people would not become victims of offenders. Thus, the media should report the news, especially about the criminal world.
In conclusion, although there are some drawbacks to reporting crime in detail, I believe that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.
