Nowadays, many people are concerned about contemporary environmental problems. It is claimed that only rich countries should be responsible for that. I partially agree with this statement; however, I beleive that working together is essential in preventing any global issues, including environmental ones. In this essy, I will elaborate my opinion.
First of all, rich nations consume and dispose considerably more than poorer countries. The public in states with high economy can afford to buy different goods. Therefore, because of the demand, more shops are concentrated in big cities, such as New York, London, Paris, and Rome. All this stores require electricity that leads to a higher energy consumption. In addition, large corporations, which produce massive amounts of industrial waste and carbon dioxide, are responsible for the majority of global greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, rich nations demonstrate a significant influence on the environment.
Nevertheless, environmental problems, such as deforestation, global warming, and pollution affects all parts of the planet. A poor country’s industry also negatively impact on the environment. Mainly, in less economically developed nations, waste management systems are inefficient. For example, in these countries, plastic waste is often burned or just disposed that prompt air and water pollution. Therefore, to reduce the impact, there should be implemetimg of appropriate measures for both rich and poor nations. For instance, restricting the emissions of large companies in rich states, while introducing strict control over waste disposal in poor countries will effectively improve the situation.
In conclusion, although rich nations are responsible for the main part of emissions, poorer countries also have to impove their waste management systems. I strongly believe that the goal can only be achieved through global cooperation.
