Band 7+: Global warming is one of the most severe issues that the world is facing today. What causes global warming, and what can government and individuals take to tackle these issues?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Climate change is a critical global issue, driven by several factors, including fabric production and overpopulation, which also brings transportation problems. Addressing these issues requires solutions such as stricter government regulations and promoting the use of public transport.

Firstly, the fashion industry significantly impacts the environment. The production of fabrics, particularly synthetic ones, consumes large amounts of energy and water, leading to greenhouse gas emissions. The disposal of clothing contributes to pollution, as textiles often end up in landfills. As demand for clothing rises, so does its environmental impact.

The second major cause of climate change is overpopulation, which directly affects transportation. A growing global population increases the need for resources like food, water, and energy. This leads to more carbon emissions, especially due to the increased use of private cars. For example, cities like Beijing and New Delhi have severe traffic congestion, resulting in high levels of pollution and greenhouse gases from the growing number of vehicles.

To combat these issues, governments and individuals must take action. Governments can implement stricter regulations on emissions from industries, including the fashion industry, and encourage cleaner technologies. An example of this is the European Union’s regulation to reduce carbon emissions from industries, which has shown some success in lowering pollution levels. Meanwhile, individuals can reduce their carbon footprints by using public transport more often. Providing better, more affordable public transport, such as the expansion of subway systems in cities like London, can encourage people to rely less on private cars.

In conclusion, addressing the causes of climate change requires collective effort to reduce waste, lower emissions, and promote sustainable practices.
