It is true that the government spends a significant amount of money not only on the arts, music, and theatre, but also on public services. I partially disagree with the point of view that there are vital reasons why the government should fund public services.
On the one hand, one of the reasons is that governments should spend a large amount of money on public services, especially schools, public transportation, and hospitals. To give just one example, the government should provide sufficient public transportation on the roads, because there is a major issue around the world, which is polluting our atmosphere with the fumes of cars and factories. There are not enough public vehicles in city centers, which exacerbates the issue of damaging the environment in turn.
However, investment in arts like music and theatre plays a crucial role in the modern world. There are many reasons why the government invests in the arts. One of the reasons is that nowadays, many people suffer from stress and tiredness, so they sometimes want to go to the theatre, a concert, or a gallery because it helps people release stress. Furthermore, people could gain a variety of experiences and expand their outlooks. A final point is that the arts have a positive influence on our quality of life.
In conclusion, investment in the arts is not a waste of money because there are benefits, and we should spend plenty of money on public services, which leads to a better quality of life in turn.
