A substantial amount of money spends in space exploration and scientific research sector in several countries. Although spending a large amount of money in this sector is crucial for innovation and addressing societal issues, governments should prioritize other sectors for ensuring people’s quality of life and long-term national development. From my perspective, ensuring people’s standard of living is more important rather than spending expenditure in space exploration and scientific research.
Governments should provide financial supports to other important areas, such as education, healthcare, and crime prevention, because these are fundamental human needs. If they spend expenditure on these areas, it will be highly beneficial for disadvantaged groups who cannot fulfil their basic needs. Individuals can equip knowledge and skills, become more productive in their workplace, and improve efficiency. For example, Germany universities provide financial supports to vulnerable people so that they can gain knowledge and become ready for labor market. Furthermore, individuals can take care of themselves as well as their surrounding; therefore, it will reduce medical cost in the future. So, governments should ensure basic human rights of their citizens.
However, spending money on space and research brings technological innovation. It assists to promote sustainable economic development in a country. More importantly, it is essential for weather forecasting, environmental monitoring, and ensuring security of people’s lives. For instance, satellite images provide substantial evidence for land status and weather condition in a region. Moreover, this area is important for disaster management. Hence, space exploration and scientific research have beneficial effects on people’s lives.
In conclusion, some countries prioritize space and research instead of essential areas. Space exploration and scientific research are important for inventing new technology and identifying social issues; however, a government should spend a large amount of in essential sectors for improving quality of people’s lives. Therefore, in my opinion, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
