Some people might think that geriatrics should care for themselves independently without any kind of help from the government. In my opinion, I believe that it is our duty to support elderly people since they have introduced a plenty of services for our community and it is our turn now to support them at this stage of life.
If we were to think about this situation from elderly people’ point of view we would realize that they spent their whole live working in different aspects which surely helped our community to develop. In addition, they have paid a lot of taxes which not only contributed to the development of our society but it helped us when we were children to grow in a good environment. That is a very logical point of view. So, it is their right to receive what they have paid in advance.
Another point of view that we have to consider is that planning for retirement is not an available option for everyone. There are a lot of people whose salaries or job type are only adequate to provide the minimum of living costs. And hence, they cannot prepare for retirement by saving money or making a private project. Finally, there is a non-logical point I believe that we should care about it. Those elderly people are still human beings! And you have to respect the fact of being human.
In conclusion, some people think that the society should not support elderly people because it is their responsibility to plan for retirement. In my opinion, I believe that it is our responsibility as youth and adults to support elderly people since they have already participated into the development of our society, and paid taxes. And also it is not accessible for everyone to implement a good plan for retirement. So I do not recommend that the governments should cut their hand of support for elderly people. They helped us in their youth and it is our turn now to help them in their oldness.
