Nowadays, there is an ongoing debate about whether keepeing personal-professional harmony is essential to keep a fulfilled life. While having a substantial work-home symmetry could make a possitive impact on person’s relationships with their families and loved ones, and additionally, help to achieve higher job satisfaction, thus, I strongly agree with the statement.
Firstly, devoting too much time to professional achievements could in turn negatively impact relationships with families and friends. Although the demand of our fast-paced world are high, one should not loose themselves in their careeers, neglecting their lives outside the offices. Take, for instance, doctors who work long shifts at hospitals without proper rest, and even during their days off, they could be asked for medical advice. All these affects precious quality time that could be spend with loved ones, as it is hard to find time for someone when being always exhausted and keeping thinking about work while on leave. Unfortunately, according to statistics, due to their hectic schedules they often end up lonely, with little to no friends or partners. Therefore, it is essential to keep boundaries at work, as money won’t buy new friends or family members.
Secondly, having rich life outside the office can lead to reduced stress from overworking, and thus, enhance job satisfaction. While human brain loves balance and reqiures proper rest, constant exposure to stressful situations can disturb that balance leading to overload with such stress hormones as cortisol. In turn, unwinding from those stressful events can positively impact ones hormonal balance, so that when returning to work their mood and energy levels are restored. Therefore, having clear mind leads to better productivity at works, and thus, to better overall satisfaction with the results.
In conclusion, it is argued whether keeping work-life symmetry is essential to live a happy and fulfilled life. While overworking can lead to loss of contact between loved ones and increase stress, I firmly believe that incorporating more free time can strengthen relationship bonds and bring more satisfaction from job.
