Band 5: Housing and accommodation has become a major problem in many countries around the world. What are some of the main factors that have contributed to this problem? What can be done to help reduce the number of homeless people? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

It is unarguable that in big number of countries around the globe housing and accommodation have become a great problem, which result in many people becoming homeless. There are many factors that could contribute to this issue such as; high cost of living and low income. Therefore, increasing the rate of minimum wage can be done to help bring down the number of homeless people.

To begin with, a number of factors that could lead to some individuals becoming homeless are; low income and high cost of living. Oftentimes, working-class people when they are working for a company will be compensated with minimum wages. The low income which does not come hand in hand with the cost of living that always increases every year causing them to have difficulty sparing a part of their hard-earned money to buy a house and provide for their daily needs. In most cases, this issue will force them to become homeless.

Regarding the issue mentioned above, there are many ways that we could do to help lower the number of homeless people, one of them is to increase the rate of minimum wage by the government. As a result, working-class people will have the opportunity to save up some of their income to buy a house while still being able to provide for themselves or their families.

In conclusion, low income and high cost of living are some of the factors that could lead individuals to become homeless. Nonetheless, such factors could be prevented by increasing the rate of minimum wages by the government, as a result, in the next 5 to 10 years, the number of homeless people will have been decreasing significantly.
