In some countries, academic students stay alone in a different town away from family while studying. I believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. There are several reasons for this.
On one hand, there are benefits of staying at home. Firstly, it is more economical to live with family. Additionally, living with family means students do not have to cook or clean, saving them time. However, a disadvantage of staying at home is the possibility of being disturbed by siblings and having to help with household chores. For example, my friend lives with her family and attends classes at home, which causes her to arrive late at university and face academic challenges.
On the other hand, there are many advantages to staying near the university. It helps students explore new experiences regularly and learn to take responsibility. Living alone requires students to handle tasks like meal preparation, cleaning, and shopping, fostering independence. Moreover, living near the university enables students to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, fostering friendly relationships. Additionally, access to study facilities such as libraries and computer labs is more convenient. For instance, my sister resides in a university dormitory and has become more responsible and mature as a result, contrary to when she lived with us and relied on my mom for personal tasks.
In conclusion, both staying near the university and at home have their benefits and downsides, and the choice varies from person to person. However, in my opinion, staying near the university offers more advantages than staying at home.
