It is argued that improving the quality of life in society is a more effective approach to crime prevention than the threat or punishment. And i completely agree with this argument.
One of the significant causes of offenses is economic instability. Unemployment and poverty push individuals to illegal activities just to earn some money for surviving. When people experience the lack of access to jobs and financial stability, they are more likely commit crimes.
For example, countries that invest in education, such as Finland and Germany, have seen lower crime rates. By ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens, governments can prevent illegal activities with higher efficiency.
Furthermore, strict punishments are not always prevent crime. For instance, in the USA many people go to prison, but crime is still a big problem. Some countries focusing on helping criminals change instead of just punishing them. For example, in Norway, prisoners can study and work during their stay in jail. This helps them live a better life after they leave, so they do not commit crimes again. This shows that helping people is a better way to reduce crime than strict punishment.
To prevent low-breaking, society should’t only punish people but also help them. If everyone has a chance to get a good job, education and healthcare fewer people will choose criminal instead of lawful life. Many countries provide information that improving life for people makes society safer. Harsh punishments do not always work.
