These days, many cities are enhancing their security systems by strategically installing CCTV cameras in public places. While some individuals argue that constant surveillance can impede personal freedom, I believe that the advantages of increasing the deployment of video surveillance systems surpass the disadvantages.
Admittedly, being monitored by video cameras can be unsettling for some, creating a feeling of constant scrutiny that may alter their behavior. In the past, people enjoyed complete freedom, behaving naturally without being watched or recorded. Previously, fear of surveillance was not a concern when visiting public spaces. However, this has changed, introducing certain limitations on personal freedom and potential privacy breaches. Government access to private recordings may lead to undesirable outcomes, such as individuals resorting to drastic measures like suicide or fleeing to another jurisdiction.
On the contrary, despite the aforementioned concerns, I am of the opinion that utilizing video cameras in public areas also offers significant benefits. The crime rate has plummeted by 60% as people are deterred by the fear of being caught in the act. For instance, individuals with malicious intentions are more likely to think twice before committing an offense if they know they can be swiftly and accurately identified and apprehended using surveillance footage. Additionally, the presence of CCTV cameras facilitates the prompt and efficient return of lost belongings, like wallets and mobile phones, to their rightful owners. In practical terms, this means that if someone misplaces their wallet while shopping, they can easily seek assistance from the establishment and retrieve it with minimal hassle.
In conclusion, considering the aforementioned factors, it is evident that the advantages of implementing CCTV cameras in public areas outweigh the drawbacks they may entail.
