Governments worldwide are significantly investing in renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, recognizing the urgent need to transition from fossil fuels to more sustainable energy options. In my honest opinion, the benefits of renewable energy are substantial and, in many respects, outweigh the drawbacks.
The advantages of renewable energy are numerous: firstly, it reduces the use of fossil fuels and, consequently, global pollution. Burning them, for instance, causes an increase in gases that can damage our atmosphere. Secondly, since it derived from sun or wind, it is not necessary to damage the environment to produce it. In fact, there are many oil companies that are currently drilling in deserts and seas to get petrol. Finally, fossil fuels are not infinite and we need to find an alternative source of energy before they run out.
Talking about disadvantages, the production of renewable energy requires an important investment of money and technology, especially in the beginning. For example, government has to buy cutting-edge solar panels and place them in an area with adequate solar exposure to have a good production of solar energy. Furthermore, the space needed for this type of structures can not be used for economical activities, such as shops, or buildings.
In my opinion, renewable energy is our only possible future and it is extremely important to make implants more efficient in order to reduce our use of fossil fuels and to eliminate them in the coming years. Furthermore, government policies should encourage research and application in this area.
