In the modern epoch, offenders being detained in prison is the most common solution to crime. Mean while, many people believe that a good education will be a more effective solution than incarceration. Regarding the mentioned statement, I only partly agree with it as my opinion is that besides imprisonment is a good way to tackle the crime, a better education will mitigate this problem in certain aspects.
From my point of view, there are several merits based on education which can help to reduce crime. Education should shoulder the responsibility for teaching childrens. They may provide students with several knowledge of the law. For example, a good education will teach people about the dangers of drugs or unprotected sex. Therefore, students can raise awareness and help them stay away from cocaine or other kinds of vice. A country thus can mitigate the number of drug addicts and rapist criminals. Another factor to consider is better education systems will lead to a safer community. For instance, Vietnam focuses on investing a good education systems leading to Vietnam is also one of the lowest crime rates in the world according to the Vnexpress, an online news agency of Vietnam in 2023
On the other hand, there are some reasons for this situation as prison can help to reduce some serious crimes such as murder or terrorist. Education may not be effective for these people because major crimes committed must be severely punished. Having been Being informed of the consequences of these activities, Offenders in prison can not pose a threat to the public. For instance, murders or terrorist are strictly punished by life imprisonment or death penalty in Vietnam. In addition, murder and terroist crimes may not be the result of the lack of education. Many educated criminals still commit crimes because they may have radicalized and become extremists or have mental problems. The government must be strictly punished to set an example for others to follow the law.
In conclusion, better education plays a vital role in decreasing crime rates in a country. But this solution should be combined with strict punishments to create a safer community for citizens
