In this day and age, it is widely argued that governments should allocate a huge amount of national budget to the arts or health and education. In this essay, I would reveal the positives of each scenario before assessing my own perspective.
On the one hand, there are various compelling reasons for the authority to spend a large expenditure on the arts. In terms of some traditional categories of arts, especially in Eastern countries, if they were budgeted enormously, they would have had the possibilities to be thoroughly conserved and passed down to the younger generations. Therefore, in a broader view, cultural values of a nation, specifically in an era of integration and globalisation like this current one, could be more likely to be preserved and then spread to other foreign cultures, resulting in the cultural exchange between countries and improvements in the national economy regarding the leisure sector.
On the other hand, the situation in which governments pay out an enormous amount of expense for health and education also brings about numerous beneficial influences to society. First, medical facilities, including hospital premises, medicines, and hygiene equipment, would be elevated in the quality as well as the quantity. In other words, patients could be entitled to a better environment for treatment and have more likelihood to find the optimal solutions for their illnesses, leading to a fast procedure of curing diseases and even successful seeking cures for cancers. Second, the amount of money which is used to promote education may increase the literacy rate of the communities, especially in Africa continent, leading to civilised communities globally. Thus, the quality of workforces could grow dramatically, contributing to the development of a country, fundamentally as regards industry.
In conclusion, although both of the above-mentioned situations hold merits, I would contend that the national budget should be allocated more to health and education, which are considered to be the most crucial factors in terms of living standards of people. This could make rapidly obvious improvements in either the social welfare or the economy of nations with its abroad impact on social life.
