Children who belong to modern generation have a habit of spending most of the time of the day infront of digital screens, such as laptops, mobile phones, tablets, and many more. Hence, many countries across the world, have paid their attention for the significant harm, which results for the children by excessive exposure to the screen. This essay will discuss what are the issues can be cause and how to overcome these concerns.
The most prominent problem of spending long hours with smart devices and screens, which can rise within young generation is physical and mental health problems including headaches, diabetics, obesity, vision problems, depression, stress, poor posture and other health issues. Furthermore, student’s poor academic performance is the second most outstanding issue because spending too much screen time distruct children from their studies, and resulted poor concentration levels and lower academic acheievements. Another issue to consider is social and emotional issues, thus developed children with social phobia and several communication difficulties, such as face-to-face communication, presentation skills, public speaking, and these persons always try to live soially isolated.
Parents, teachers, and other elderly people have the main responsibility to encourage children to reduce their screen time. Parents can limit the screen time which allocated for entertainment activities, and encourage their little ones to do more outdoor activities, for example cycling and outdoor games, since it improves the physical health of them. In addition, if the young people are spending quality family time together with their families, such as having meals together or engaging in group activities, they will strength their communication skills and relationships. Finally, when the children are allocating their free time for doing sports or any other extracurricular activities; signing, dancing, painting, and many more instead of doing activties infront of digital screen, since it improves self-confidence level as well as mental health of the students.
To conclude, spending too much time on screen may cause lower the children’s physical and mental health, academic performance, socail development, while, these issues can overcome by involvement of their elders, such as impossing limitations, allocating time to spend with little ones, encouraging physical activities. Therefore, I believe that parents and school should work together for balance and responsible use of technology.
