These days, after giving birth to their children, women are allowed to take maternity leave up to one month, and this regulation has been implemented across many countries around the world. From my perspective, these laws could provide both advantages and disadvantages, and the details will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
On the one hand, many people support this regulation of maternity leave in many positive aspects. First of all, it is undeniable that the health of mothers should be prioritized before any other things since if they are not allowed to get some rest, it would be difficult for them to recover and come back to work with full potential. In particular, giving mothers some time to take care of their health will be beneficial for the company in the sense that these workers will come back with their full energy, leading to more productivity in work, compared to one who is not allowed to take leave after giving birth.
On the other hand, allowing mothers to take leave without working could also give some potential drawbacks for the company. Some companies might worry about their potential to work after coming back from their leaves because these women might forget how to work properly and not be able to handle their work professionally, which may cause some of them to start over again. For example, if there are some changes in the company structure or the way they work, these workers may take more time to catch up with the new process which can lead to lack of continuity in work. Therefore, some people might perceive this regulation as a negative impact for the company.
In conclusion, although the maternity leave regulation could be beneficial for mothers after giving birth as it allows mothers to take some rest and get recovery, there are some drawbacks that need to be considered as well in terms of the ability to work seamlessly after taking a long break.
