One of the most important issues in the contemporary workplace is the first month of maternity leave for women employees after the birth of a newborn. I believe that the pros of this issue outweigh the cons.
From an overall perspective, there are several reasons why maternity leave is crucial for women employees. Perhaps the main reason for this issue is that they take care of their child. One of the persons always needs to stay with the newborn child because they cannot do anything without help from someone. So, the mother is the first priority to take any responsibilities for their child, including their dress change and feeding. Furthermore, the health condition is essential for both mother and child during the first month. If a mother cannot provide sufficient nutrients to their child, then the child faces numerous types of disease. So, the mother should take different types of nutrient-containing foods; those are vital role plays to improve health for both child and mother. Finally, women need to take rest after the birth of the newborn because there are numerous types of biological changes in their bodies during this time.
Despite these arguments, there are also some drawbacks of this issue. Firstly, a company needs a temporary replacement, but this process is difficult for the companies. Secondly, small companies may not afford to give maternity leave to their employees. Finally, a long maternity leave may be an obstacle for the company’s progression because they cannot reach their activities after the year.
To sum up, the disadvantages of maternity leave for women employees are negligible as compared to the advantages.
