We live in a developing and contemporary society where gender segregation mitigates considerably and both men and women have equal opportunities in each field of life. It has been believed that in the 21st century, females no longer feel the need get married due to the consequence of women’s capability to earn their own income by themselves. Personally, I partly agree with this suggestion based on some reasons that are explained in this essay.
On the one hand, there are plausible reasons to argue that the financial security of marriage is no longer essential for women. Centuries ago , when gender inequality was the most significant issues at that time, females were restricted opportunities in most spheres such as: education, jobs ,… thus, they had to get married to economically depend on the families of their husbands and being compelling to serve them. However, nowadays, the gender equality significantly exert a major influence on society, women can easily encounter more opportunities of approaching higher education degrees and occupation. As a result, they could generate their own income rather than depending on others. Moreover, due to the ability of earning and managing their property, there is no compulsion on them to get married, which provies them with more freedom in terms of lifestyle and time, as they can do whatever they want.
On the other hand, finance is not the only issue that marriage would not happen, other societal factors in modern world also influence drastically on determining the choice to be connubial. For example, most women would start a family, raise childern and take responsibility for household chores, meaning their aspirations such as careers, travelling, getting advanced education levels and eventually pursuing things that they have not accomplished yet could be sacrificed . These obstacles could have a profound detrimental impact on the development of women’s knowledge and even mentality which trigger a variety of fields of life more challenging. Therefore, an increasing number of women are reluctant to get married and continously focus on their achievements. That’s why I assert that the combination of many factors may have a more profound influence on delaying marriage rather than any one financial effect.
In conclusion, as discussed in the above paragraphs I partially agree with this idea that solved financial issues can result in a continuing and freedom life for women worldwide but I believe that this not the only reason and that is just an aspect of its whole problems
