In contemporary society, many people address retirement homes instead of caring for their elderly members. There are some arguments on both sides, however I totally disagree with this behavior and believe that elderly members should be surrounded with their loved ones.
For some, on the one hand, retirement houses offer several opportunities which do not exist in the individual houses. Many elderly people face health problems or physical challenges that make it hard for them to live independently at home. Retirement houses provide professional medical and physical activity. Occasionally, being in a tranquil atmosphere and sharing thoughts of the with same generation with yourselves help them feel safer and more secure. However, on the other hand, their relatives and family members should take care of their problems. In these years, family support is irreparable compared to the other factors.
Conversely, I believe that the elderly people who live with their own family are generally happier and more satisfied. Some suggest that emotional health should take priority contrasting to the other physical diagnosis. For instance, a strong emotional connection with family members can reduce stress, sense of isolation and loneliness. No matter if physical health is important, caring from loved ones has a crucial role in people’s life, particularly in older age.
In conclusion, in some societies elderly people tend to go to retirement homes, while I disagree entirely with this idea. From my perspective, being surrounded with a familiar atmosphere can not be compared to the other places.
