Currently, both in government offices and private companies, there are different ways of holding meetings. It is generally true that online communication is becoming more common than face-to-face meetings in the workplace today. I believe that each has its advantages and disadvantages. In this essay, I will discuss some reasons why the drawbacks of online communication are more significant than those of face-to-face meetings, such as the lack of detailed information and technical issues.
To begin with, when holding online meetings, many people often do not receive detailed information. In other words, during online meetings, participants may not focus on the meeting and miss the key points. For example, when a manager holds an online meeting with employees, some employees may not pay attention, and engage in other activities, ultimately missing the essence of the meeting.
Additionally, many people frequently encounter technical problems during these meetings. To put it simply, the issues can lead to disruptions due to poor internet connections, making the meetings less effective. For instance, when a company would like to hold an online meeting during peak hours, employees may be unable to access the internet at work, leading to blame from their supervisors for low productivity.
In conclusion, based on the reasons mentioned, I can safely conclude that during online meetings, many people do not receive detailed information because they are not focused, and they often experience technical issues such as intermittent connections during peak hours. Essentially, face-to-face meetings are more effective taking everything into consideration to the fact that individuals can concentrate better on the information presented, and avoid misunderstandings among colleagues.
