It is considered a norm for schools around the world to teach English as a main subject from the early stages . This is due to it being the most widely spoken language around the globe and its ease of learning . This is also a pro as children at a young age are more accepting of keywords and vocabulary . However , this might affect the child’s connection to their mother tongue negatively .
First , English is taught in school as a lone subject so that all the other subjects can be based on it too . With English being the universal language , learning English would open lots of doors to a child from such an early stage so that he would be able to communicate with people of all different backgrounds and share knowledge by uniting under a unified language . Moreover, the English language will allow more opportunities job wise in the future if a child is able to master the language as it is an important hiring factor in our current times .
On the other hand, English being taught and used for all the other subjects in school can lead to weakening of the child’s understanding and frequency of usage of his or her mother tongue . so and so that a child might be able to form sentences and communicate using English while not being able to do the same in their native language . As a result , lots of culture loss is due to happen which could lead to the child’s disconnection from his country and family disappointment .
In conclusion , I do believe that there is an importance to a child learning english at a young age however , the parents must insure that the child does not get carried from his culture and mother tongue as it is what makes each of us unique .
