In recent years, the number of people owning their own private cars is increasing. Most people prefer to own their private cars rather than using crowded and inconvenient public transport. In my opinion, there are more downsides of this trend than upsides.
A notable drawback is that owning more cars increase traffic congestion, which is one of the main problem in our globalized world. Although governments try to boost public transport to decline traffic, individuals ignore this, and choose to own cars.
In addition, rising in owning cars is deteriorating the environment. Cars release carbon emissions, which damage environment. Moreover, cars can be seen as one of the main reason of pollution. Especially, crashing cars lead to environmental pollution. For instance, carbon emissions released by cars are the major cause of air pollution. This affect directly to population in terms of health and well-being.
Nevertheless, it is also worth mentioning that people who live far away from their workplace or university, it is more convenient to own their private car. It prevent waste of time, and can have a impact on productivity.
To conclude, there are notable reasons to own car in terms of convenient and self-reliant,however,drawbacks such as traffic, environmental issues and crash are more essential, and have to solve to create sustainable development. Governments should take measures to address these issue, and should cooperate with other states to solve problems effectively.
