It is a known fact that the number of people who use their car for daily activities has increased recently. In this essay, I will argue that it has mostly a positive development due to comfortable transport and lack of public transportation, yet it has potential cause of heavy traffic in small cities.
The first consideration of its benefits is that being comfortable has become easier than earlier, so, owning a car distributes a safe and easy ride. People do not want to waste more time and get disturbed by travelling with a lot of others in public transport. As a reason, people have become more impatient to go somewhere via public transport and this results from an increasing number of people in big cities.
Another benefit is that in desolated towns or big cities, commonly there is not proper public transport due to shortage in the number of people who are living there. That is why those people have no other choices but owning a private car. For instance, in most of USA states, almost every individual is a car owner, as even the nearest market is in at least half an hour drive away.
In contrast, it has also downside that when there is a tendency towards the rising of the number of cars in small cities, traffic starts to get blocked and car owners get to their workplaces later than usual. As an example, in Baku, Azerbaijan, residents are switching to having a car instead of using public transport. Therefore, much more traffic jam is being observed than early years.
To summarize, although it may develop the traffic negatively, it has arguably more positive factors to take into account such as transport with ease and is useful for places in where going from one point to another is struggling without a car.
