Band 5+: In most countries, the number of people owning their own private cars is on the rise. Is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the number of people who have their private cars is increasing. l believe this increase brings several drawbacks.

To begin with, most people have their own private cars which have a detrimental impact on nature, and this leads to air pollution. To be more specific, private cars allow people to go everywhere when they want in order to many individuals to get private cars to make their life much easier. However, cars emit carbon dioxide which is harmful for the environment. The carbon dioxide spread in the air and this cause air pollution which is the reason for the death of the animals. For example, scientists make electric cars which do not emit any gas, and these means of transport are not damaging.

Another drawback is that getting private cars causes overcrowding. In other words, owing to the excessive number of cars, traffic congestion happens. The government is trying to decrease traffic jam in order to they implemented a bus-only lane. This special line allows buses to travel faster so people use the bus for moving and reaching quickly. The government expects that people may observe how easy it is to travel by bus, and they may stop using their own private cars. Using public transport is not only good for people but also contributes to the economy of the country.

In conclusion, although many people turn to buying their own private cars, it has some bad effect such as air pollution and overcrowd. l am convinced that decreasing the use of private cars influences the environment positively.
