In many developed countries, shopping has become more than a neccesary, it is now considered a form of entertainment and leisure. This is a negative development,

On the one hand, shopping for fun can help the economy. When citizens go to malls, they buy more things, which help shop earn money and gives jobs to many workers. Also, shopping centers are good place for families and friends to spend time together. For instance, many malls have resturants, cinemas, and play areas where individuals can enjoy themselves.

On the other hand, shopping as entertainment can make mankind waste money. Many buy things they do not really need, just for enjoyment. This can cause problem like debt and waste of materials, Which is bad for environment. Moreover, people may spend to much time in mall instead of doing usefull activities like stuyding, reading, or exercise.

In conclusion, shopping for fun has some benefits for economy and social life, but I believe it is mostly negative because it makes human more wastefull.
