In recent years, the quantity of people opting to read e-books has increased as a viable alternative to paper books. Personally, I believe that its advantages do not outweigh its demerits.
On the one hand, there are several benefits to it. Firstly, in some old books, the font might be illegible, and pages are easily torn. E-books are devoid of these drawbacks; users who need such books without any obstacles are able to magnify the scale of them to see badly written words, and this book will not be destroyed because of physical wear.
Secondly, e-books are more convenient and available since people can install all necessary books on their devices irrespective of carrying dozens of heavy paper books with themselves. While those who use paper books can forget them, without access to them, the person using a phone or laptop can open an installed e-book at any moment.
On the other hand, not all people like to read e-books, especially the older generation. One of the reasons is that these people are not used to reading books in this format and prefer regular books. In addition, electronic devices have a detrimental impact on their vision. Additionally, students who use only e-books may not fully concentrate on their tasks, as they are distracted by notifications from social networks, which significantly decreases the efficiency of their studying and, respectively, reflects on exam results.
In conclusion, I would like to say that e-books have plenty of benefits in comparison with paper books, but using e-books decreases the efficiency of assimilating the studying material, which is more crucial in my opinion, and it would be better to print an e-book if people do not have the opportunity to buy it.
