Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 8+: In recent years, more and more people are chosing to read e-books rathen than paper books. Do the advantages outweight disadvantages

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, a growing number of people prefer reading e-books over traditional paper books. Although eye strain is a significant drawback, the advantages of reading e-books outweigh the disadvantages because of the convenience and flexibility of e-books.

The primary advantage of e-books is that they provide convenience. This is because readers are able to access thousands of books on one portable device without carrying any heavy books and adjust font size and lighting effortlessly, leading to more comfortable carrying and reading. For example, for passengers on a night flight, reading paper books would be challenging due to the lack of lighting. However, with e-books, they are able to adjust brightness and font size to suit them in each situation. Moreover, e-books address the issue of limited space in their travel bags, enabling passengers to carry multiple books without bringing bulky books. As a result, e-books offer convenient and efficient reading in each scenario. Undoubtedly, e-books are far more convenient and practical than paper books due to their adaptable features and portability.

The major challenge of adopting e-books is that long reading sessions would strain readers’ eyes. However, various technologies have been developed to address this issue, such as e-readers—specialized devices designed for online reading and preventing eye strain. As a result, these technologies make digital reading more comfortable for users and effectively address the issue. There is no doubt that while eye strain remains a critical disadvantage, technological enhancements will gradually eradicate this concern.

In conclusion, e-books offer notable convenience and practicality. Despite some concerns regarding eye health, advancements in technology will resolve this over time.
