In several parts of the US, parents do not let their children go out at night after a certain period of time, if they are not accompanied by an adult. I totally agree with this because not only young adults are more likely to behave irresponsibly but also it is dangerous for them to be outside unsupervised late at night.
Firstly, it very common for the teenagers to display careless attitude due to which imposition of curfew seems to be a safer option to parents. It is often witnessed that given the opportunity to be outdoors very late in the evening, many young children indulge in reckless drinking and driving. Where their thoughtlessness can be unsafe for their own selves, it can put someone else’s life at risk. For example, a local newspaper of Texas revealed that their has been an increase in the number of car accidents at night over the past five years and seventy percent of them were the result of some drunk teenager behind the wheels.
In addition, in different parts of the US, there has been a rapid increase in the number of violent crimes and most of the victims fall in the age category of 14 years to 18 years. This may be in accordance with the fact that teenagers are more vulnerable and easy to manipulate. Therefore, in order to protect their children it is quite reasonable for the guardians to put a curfew so that the young children do not come across any encounter which can hold their life at stake.
To conclude, it is rational for parents to establish a curfew time for the teenagers since they are vulnerable and more prone to put themselves in dangerous situations. By keeping them indoors or going out under an adult supervision, parents can eliminate the chances of putting their children’s life in jeopardy.
