While in some parts of the world, cars are preferred over bikes by some people, in other cities, cars are being replaced with bicycles. This phenomenon might be attributed to commuting and air pollution, and I strongly believe that bicycles play a more crucial role than vehicles for individuals.
There are a couple of reasons why bicycles and cars are replaced with each other. One of these is commuting miles of distance. When people live in other parts of the city, they usually prefer public transport instead of bikes. This is because, when travelling by a means of vehicles, people can avoid wasting their time, as it sometimes takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach their workplaces. For example, compared to those riding bicycles, people taking taxis or trains and living far away from their work in the USA tend to arrive at their work much earlier without wasting their energy and time.
Apart from this reason, mitigating air pollution is another argument for why people replace cars with bicycles. As the air is polluted by carbon dioxide from cars, which is detrimental to both the environment and people’s health, individuals start riding bikes instead of cars to reach their destinations. Doing so would decrease the rate of harmful emissions in the air, while cycling can enable people to lead a healthy lifestyle. In this way, leg movements contribute to a healthy human body in the long run.
However, in my view, riding a bike is more essential for humans because of the formation of a healthy body. Compared to those driving cars, people cycling do not develop a sedentary lifestyle. Instead, they need to make leg movements, which can improve the human body by circulating blood throughout the body.
In conclusion, it is my firm conviction that cycling is far more necessary than driving, even though both are essential for long distances and reduction in air pollution.
