Band 6+: In some countries an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It si therefore necessary for the government to impose a higher tax on this kind of food.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

A growing number of people in certain nations are experiencing health issues because of consuming excessive amounts of fast food. For this reason, governments must tax this type of food more heavily. In my opinion, I agree that nowadays the majority of people are faced with the health issues from consuming junk food, but I think the solution of the government might be enough effective for high-income earners.

In general, the price of junk food is not the main reason for them to select this kind of food. Most of people are always comfortable choosing fast food instead of healthy food because they prioritize the convenient than their health. From the health researching all over the world, people usually eat their meal in a short time, whether it is breakfast, lunch or diner for saving their time. Imposing a higher tax on junk food only effects on middle-income earners and low-income earners whereas high-income earners are not affected by junk food tax increases. The middle and low-income earners will pay more for junk food which may lead to inconvenience in spending. Sometimes healthy food is often more expensive than junk food, they don’t have many choices when it comes to food. On the other hand, high-income earners can still afford to spend money on junk food, even if the price goes up due to tax increases. The government’s solution to this problem is ineffective for all people classes, meaning it cannot solve the specific problem.

To solve this problem, the government should campaign or set regulations for shops to reduce the prices of healthy food, including campaigning for people to understand the health problems causes by eating junk food.

In conclusion, to deal with the health issue caused by a consumption of junk food, the government should focus on the advertising about healthy food and encourage restaurant operators to continue to lower the prices of healthy food to the citizen, rather than simply charging a higher tax on fast food.
