Because many people these days do not plan tasks they have to complete as well as they are not given a certain deadline to accomplish their works by their director. As a result, employees may spend more time on unnecessary things, such as watching videos or talking with their colleagues. Furthermore, economic pressures can be another contributing factor. This is because, in competitive job markets people may work longer hours to promote their positions. Also, living in countries with high costs may force people to work longer hours to meet financial needs. For instance, people who live in Japan work more than 10 hours in a day because of they have to earn much money for their living costs.
However, there are several negative implications of working long hours . Health issues are mostly affected by this. When people work longer, they spend more time to check documents, communicate with customers or to review the reports on the computer . As a result, this can lead to not only physical, but also mental health, such as stress, depression and heart disease. Moreover, working long hours has a substantial effect on poor work – life balance. To explain, if people spend plenty of time in their workplace they may leave little time for personal life and this affect relationships along with family life.
In conclusion, the main causes behind the issue are lack of regulation as well as economic pressures and these factors can negatively impact on health and balancing work-life.
