One of the most topical issue in modern society is, the growing reliance on artificial intellegence for making decisions in various fileds such as job recruitment, education, and financial services. While some believe the decisisons should made entirely by humans , other believe that, making decision by artificial intellegence is much better. However, I wholeheartedly disagree with this statement because I believe, the disadvantages of this trend outweighs the advantages. Both artificial intellegence and humans should make decision rather than banning artificial humanmade decision completely.
There are commentators who are of the view that, humans should make all the decisions in every field rather than A.I. There are variety of reasons behind this belief. One of the most important one is that, human are able to understand ethical and emotional background whereas artificial intellegence have strickter decision making rules since they can not process emotion. Human considers the background issue of a problem. For instance, a student might not be able to do well in studies because of his mental health problems. In this situation, a robot will expell the student but a human will try to understand the student’s problem before coming to a conclusion. Another reason is, human decision taking process might be time consuming as they have to go through every detail one by one. So, the decisions might take a long time to come and those who have an emegency, will face problems.
On the other hand, there are also a variety of reasons for which we should give importance to artificial intellegence’s decision making. One of the main reason is that it will prevent biased decisions. To illustrate it further, recently there have been a report on a company’s job recruiting process where they identified 60% employees who got the job are either relatives of any senior employee or have bribed to get the job. In this process, those who are skilled, they do not get the job. But artificial intellegence observes everything strictly and appoints those who are eligilbe and skilled. Another reason is, robots can process a large amount of data within a short amount of time. And the data they process are mostly accurate while human can make mistakes due to lack of concentration. What takes 10 days for a human to complete can be done in few minutes with the help of artificial intellegence.
To sum up, despite of having few disadvantages, I believe none of these systems should be banned properly from decision making. Rather, the decisions provided by artificial intellegence can be supervised by human which will mitigate existing problems.
