From my perspective, this policy is a positive development. However, I also found that rejecting a job applicant because of his or her age is reasonable in certain situations.
As the development of an aging society, the age of employees has become older and older. Nevertheless, old age always represents an aging body, so it could be a risk for companies to hire older employees, not only in the huge expense of health insurance, but also in facing a question on how to balance employees’ bodily health and the company’s collective interest.
However, I can also see its negative impacts. Regulations and policies are media to rule people’s behaviors. They help build a friendly and reasonable market environment. If no laws are implemented to develop the retiring environment, a quantity of questionable phenomena could emerge immediately. For instance, enterprises will have stricter rules on employees’ ages than now, which will no doubt result in an increase of the unemployment rate. Besides, it is public knowledge that human beings all have the right to choose and apply for work without restrictions. All of us are supposed to choose a job we want. Age monitoring could contravene it.
In my opinion, the best solution to contain this positive development is to ask governments and authorities to take action. Some tax discount could release the financial burden on enterprises that hire older people.
