In modern society, the number of overweight and unhealthy children has been growing at an alarming rate. In that sense, some people opine that the governments must be responsible for tackling this issue. From my perspective, I completely disagree with this opinion, and this essay will illustrate my viewpoint.
First and foremost, the responsibility rests with citizens to mitigate their own problems. To clarify, children are not only increasingly exposed to unhealthy food, but also reluctant to engage in physical activities. Therefore, they are faced with the risk of potential dire repercussions, namely obesity and unhealthiness, which are direct consequences of individuals’ unbalanced diet and lifestyle. As children are the primary culprit of these serious health conditions and they understand their bodies best, only them are able to undertake viable solutions in addressing this issue.
Secondly, the governments cannot deal with everyone’s personal problem. To illustrate, the governments’ primary responsibility is to solve complicated issues, which are usually on a large scale. If the governments allocate more time and funds to alleviating people’s trivial concerns, they no longer have adequate time and subsidy, thereby may not effectively operating when it comes to national issues. For that reason, the governments cannot follow and cater to all citizens, specifically in tackling their obesity and unhealthiness, but rather have to address more general and complex problems.
In conclusion, the responsibility does not entirely rest with the governments because they are responsible for solving more complicated problems and individuals are able to deal with their own health conditions. However, the governments should make a joint effort with their citizens so as to fully address this issue as well as promote people’s well-being.
