In today’s globalization, it has become increasingly prevalent for a large number of parents to teach their children themselves at home instead of sending them to educational institutions. Despite these upsides, these drawbacks are also substantial. Personally, I firmly believe that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
One of the primary advantages of home education is the flexibility of learning time than some children going to school that requires a fixed time. This is beneficial simply because parents can teach their children whenever they want and even kids are more likely to go for any subjects which are taught by their parents. Another compelling benefit of educating at home is that children would have their own space. To illustrate, their parents can teach them anywhere in their accommodation just to ensure that taking on new knowledge will be the most productive. Taking my little cousin as an example, he once told me that his parents used to teach him in regards to mandatory subjects for a period of Covid-19 pandemic. Everytime like this, he would have the liberated feeling as he could choose anywhere in his house to learn with his parents.
However, the downside of this is parents’ lack of knowledge. Obviously, they don’t possess deep insight for their course curriculum at home, they can’t impart adequate information and knowledge to their children. Therefore, those kids are more likely to get lost and even miss out on understanding the bigger picture. One such disadvantage of home education is that children wouldn’t participate in learning activities on campus. This can lead to the growth of their timidness just because of the lack of developing environments. Moreover, they can make a few friends or even worse, being autistic children.
In conclusion, although these advantages such as the flexibility of learning time, these disadvantages are also significant. Hence, the downsides of home education outweigh the upsides.
