Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 6+: In some countries the government promotes public transport as the primary means of transportation, and discourages private vehicle ownership. Do you think the advantages of this policy outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Due to the population boom, developing the infrastructure of public transport is one of the most important primary goals for governments; they encourage their people to use public transport rather than own vehicles. In my opinion, the advantages of using public transport outweigh the disadvantages.

On the one hand, private vehicles have many benefits for owners. Firstly, the main reason individuals are using their own vehicles is convenience; they do not need to wait in different weather conditions at the station for transport. In addition to this, public transports have specific locations to pick up and drop off, which may be near or far from the location where they want to go, but their own vehicle can go to the direct location. Secondly, public transport has a low speed, and being in a hurry is not a good choice when using these types of vehicles. As a result, public transport is time-consuming compared to private on.

On the other hand, using public transport has a plethora of benefits in many aspects of society. Firstly, the great impact of promoting the use of public transport is to reduce gas emissions from private cars, we are living in the same world and protection of the environment is a responsibility for everyone. Secondly, using their own cars not only has a high gasoline price but can also increase traffic jams in rush hours and get stuck in traffic for many hours. Consequently, the government persuades people to use public transport, which has separate lines on the road and does not get stuck in traffic.

In conclusion, Although a private car is quicker and more convenient than public transport, it has many benefits, such as being cheaper and more eco-friendly than private vehicles.
