The governing body of few nations are imposing large amount of tax on personal vehicles and investing more public transports like buses, trains and so on. In my opinion, the benefits that come from this decision undoubtedly outweighs the potential damages.
From the immense positive sides of heavy taxing of private cars, one is that this helps reduce traffic congestions in narrow or underdeveloped roads. Hypothetically, if ten peoples are outside to leave for their destinations, each pair of five’s destined location being exact same, and each of them use their personal car there are ten cars on tha road. On the other hand, if there are enough and comfortable public transport services and use of personal cars being costly can reduce the number from 10 to 2. Even if it is not a big issue for developed and large roads and bridges, for the complete opposite types, it will be a great source of help for nearby people or people using the roads. The next advantage is the use of limited natural resources is far more efficient in case of using public transport instead of personal vehicles. The reason is, the same amount of natural resources like coal or gas, whatever used in a vehicle, can be used to make more number of people reach their similar destination when used in spacious public transportation instead of small cars.
However, the downside of heavy taxing of private cars and putting more resources onto public transportation can be lower employee productivity. When employees would need to take a bus in place of their own car, they must follow the bus schedule that is closely aligned with their job schedule. Any failure to do so can affect their work life negatively resulting into lower output in any circumstances where either they are late to work and can invest lesser time in work, or they constantly miss their buses that hampers their daily rest schedule making them less energetic to work. Also, another negative impact can be seen on car businesses, who can sell fewer cars in places where this kind of governal decision is taken.
In conclusion, after considering the positive and negative impacts of decision taken by governments of some regions, it is clear that the disadvantages are negligible or of fewer dangerous consequences. The benefits outweighs its potential drawbacks.
