Nowadays, there is a rising argument debating on ads that target children about snacks, toys and other goods .Parents strongly claim that these advertisements are not acceptable. From my perspective, I firmly agree with this point of view.
To begin with, advertisements in junk foods and toys are negatively effect on children. By deeply attracting children through using animated characters in advertising, companies can easily manipulate children’s minds which can cause a misunderstanding. While seeing their favorite idols usually convey how best-quality the products are, children can perceive it as a positive thing. For instance, Lotteria’s fried chicken are eaten by BTS-one of the famous music bands in Korea with the guarantee that it is healthier than other types of fried chicken, can cause a huge wave to children who is a big fan of this band to buy this. Moreover, when advertisements are seen, children will try to convince their parents to buy the products and this can lead to conflict between children and parents. Parents can stand between two option whether buying products for their child but too much will be susceptible for their child to diseases such as obesity, whether rejecting will lead to sadness and anger.
On the other hand, sometimes products can be a motivation that are received as a reward to children for their efforts in studying for example. In order to make advertising come without being unfair to children on various aspects, the government needs to upgrade law in order to force brands to create advertisements that are true to the nutritional value that the product carries as well as parents also need to be responsible for explaining the correctness of advertising to their children.
In conclusion, I hold a strong belief that instead of playing a negative role for families, advertising needs to be framed to a stricter regulation that is beneficial to both parents and the brands.
