Food has always been an essential requirement for mankind, and a lot of advancements are being made in the field of agriculture to fulfill the nutritional needs of people. Despite all these innovations, the proportion of hunger is also increasing day by day, unfortunately. In this essay, I will discuss the cause and remedy of the alarming food crisis affecting our globe.
Poverty and sky rocketing prices of food are the major driving force behind growing hunger. In recent times, a lot of investment was inducted in the field of agriculture to find novel and rapid methods of growing quality corps. All these practices have increased the cost of production, making it almost impossible for the poor to afford good food. Many people living in the remote areas of Africa or Asia are deprived of the basic nutrients, and they can only blame their limited resources and prevailing drought conditions for their misery. The decision makers should prioritize the availability of food to every human being at affordable cost.
In my opinion, food can be made more approachable for the poor by intervention of the government authorities. The ruling elite should come forward and announce targeted subsidies on the basic food items such as bread, sugar and rice etc. Some non-government organizations are also raising their voices on this issue, so they can also pay their role to counter the growing hunger problem by advocating this crisis to general public in order to collect funds.
In a nutshell, depletion of food in the plate of poor is an alarming issue caused by the rising prices of basic necessities. Fortunately, this problem is still curable by the dedicated efforts of national and international organizations with the support of civil society.
