It is evident that some societies still undermine the role of women in both education and employment. Factors causing this emerge and differ among countries. For instance, in most Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern nations, there is a general belief stating that women should only have an organizing role in their household, causing their involvement in other jobs undervalued. However, contrasting thoughts emerge in Western countries as they tend to promote equal rights for women.
One underlying solution for the occurring inequality is to instill liberal thoughts within the national employment law in the above-mentioned countries. Through upholding equality in national policy, equal treatment in employment between men and women would eventually be imposed. Institutions, both public and private, will adhere to the law enforced. Although this breakthrough will have an immediate and immense effect, arduous challenges remain. To alter the national law, you have to deal with perplexing political systems, ruling parties, and complicated law enactment mechanisms in the House of Representatives.
However, a specific solution would be an option. Executives could enforce institutional policies to ensure men and women are equally treated and respected. Performance-based salary should be imposed since it values payment and appreciation based on the quantity and quality of work accomplished by the employees without considering their genders. Eventually, this will not only create equality within the workplace but also will portray excellence impressions for the institutions publicly.
