In today’s technology world, the average life expectancy of people is significantly more increasing than in the past. There are many factors for causing of problems to individuals and society. In this essay, I will discuss the reasons of this issue and provide some solutions that could be used to alleviate the negative effects of ageing populations.
It is believed that the average life expectancy of an individual has increased these days. As the population of retired people who will receive a pension grow, the young adult workers have to pay more taxes to support pensions. This also lead a lot of pressure to work harder to cover the basic needs and contribute to the elderly. In addition, the high expenses of taking care of a senior person also impose high cost on the economy of the country. In other words, an old person requires a lot of healthcare facilities like hospitals and clinics where the government has to invest more money in the healthcare sector.
To tackle these problems, the government could implement several measures. Firstly, the government should reconsider the age of the retirement. For example, the retirement age should extend from 55 to 60 years old if a senior citizen is in a good health condition. By doing this, the burden of taxes that young people have to support could be reduced. Secondly, investing more money in public healthcare system such as introducing initiative programs could lead to reduce the need for frequent treatments.
In conclusion, as the life expectancy increases, ageing populations can cause many problems to the young individual and society. However, these concerns can be mitigated if the government solved it in the effective way.
