Band 6+: In the future, it seems it will be more difficult to live on the earth. Some people think more money should be spent on researching other planets to live, such as Mars. To what extent, do you agree or disagree?

It is believed that it would be challenging for us to spend lifestyle on our planet after several years. A myriad of experts believe that immense amount of money should be allocate to space research for exploration of the other world to initiate new lifestyles. I strongly disagree with the given statement and believe that some other factors should also be considered. This essay will discuss my opinion in detail and will provide a logical conclusion.

There are two major reasons why living on earth will become unsustainable in future times. The first major problem is the uncontrolled consumption of natural resources, which are being depleted as a result. For instance, the extraction of fossil fuels, such as coal, gas and oil to satisfy growing energy demands has serious environmental impacts, and these resources will eventually run out. Another concern is the increasing industrialisation and vehicle ownership resulted in rising level of pollution worldwide, of the land, the oceans, and the air that we breathe. In India, for example, thousands of tons of industrial rubbish have been released illegally into rivers, killing aquatic life, and contaminating drinking water.

However, I would argue that the search for the new planet where humans can survive is waste of valuable resources. The first reason behind this is, a vast amount of money is required to sponsor such space exploration with no guarantee of success. This money is necessary for raising the living standard of local people, including better health care and educational services. Apart from this, financial resources should be used to develop advanced technologies that would be more environmentally friendly and provide renewable energy. For instance, introducing hydrogen and electric vehicle with government subsidies, which is affordable and do not harm environment.

To conclude, I would like to restate my opinion, expenditure on new planet to colonise should be given low priority, and efforts should be made on concentrating living more sustainably here on earth.
