In the foreseeable future, it is projected that sustaining human life on Earth will become increasingly challenging. Some individuals advocate for allocating more financial resources towards hunting inhabitable alternatives, such as Mars. I somewhat agree with this viewpoint. I am going to proceed to outline both its advantages and disadvantages of searching for other planets to live.
On one hand, there are two advantages. First, deteriorating environmental conditions on Earth have resulted in escalating pollution and unsustainable living conditions, so we need to explore a more habitable planet to live on. This is illustrated by the proliferation of toxic emissions from various sources, including traffic and industrial facilities, leading to air pollution and contributing to the exacerbation of global warming and natural catastrophes. As a result, the earth’s temperature is getting higher and the greenhouse effect as well as natural disasters are strongly increasing. Second, the burgeoning global population has engendered an array of challenges, including diminished living standards and widespread housing shortages. For instance, the prevalence of poverty in countries such as India has led to heightened crime rates and societal instability.
On the other hand, there are two disadvantages. First, space exploration has exorbitant costs and no guarantee of success. For example, the perilous nature of space travel has resulted in the loss of numerous astronauts, casting doubts on the viability of such endeavors. Furthermore, financial resources should be used to develop advanced technologies that would be more environmentally-friendly and provide renewable energy instead of being spent on researching other planets. For example, hydrogen-based vehicles are one of the significant advances that have been made in the transportation sector.
In conclusion, because of the advantages and disadvantages, I somewhat agree with the idea of spending our money on researching other planets for habitation. I firmly believe that funds and efforts should primarily be directed towards exploring more feasible solutions.
