The debate regarding celebrities and influencer’s privacy is a prevalent topic in today’s society. There are a plethora of cases in which celebrities get chased around by the press and paparazzi during a casual day out with family or friends. In light of this, I wholeheartedly disagree that people should get their privacy invaded, regardless of their fame.
Some might interject that famous people venture into the industry knowing full well of the downsides they may face and that they shouldn’t be a celebrity if they can’t handle getting their privacy publicized for the whole world to see. Nevertheless, no one should compromise their safety and privacy to chase their dreams regardless of the risks. For example, one may have dreamt of being an actor their whole life and should be able to pursue their dreams without constantly watching behind their backs and living in fear that strangers might come to their house at night and photograph them without consent.
In addition, it is important to remember that famous people, regardless of their level of fame, are human beings too. Therefore, they have basic human emotions, such as feeling sad, nervous, and anxious, among other things. What I mean by this is that, just like the rest of us, celebrities would be anxious and scared if their movements were constantly tracked down and dissected by the public world to speculate things as they see fit.
In conclusion, it is safe to say that the privacy rights of famous people should not be compromised, no matter how well-known a person is in the industry. Therefore, the press and media should start treating them as human beings, rather than as pieces of media for the entertainment of society.
