Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 8+: In the past, knowledge was stored in books. Today, people store knowledge on the internet. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Back then, people collected information mainly in books. In recent years, most data is preserved and shared on the internet. While this trend has a few disadvantages, I firmly believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages because the internet makes information more accessible and easier to update.

To commence with, the biggest advantage of storing knowledge is that people can find information quickly and easily. Unlike books, which may only be available in libraries or bookstores, online data can be accessed anytime and anywhere with an internet connection. For instance, students can find educational materials just in few minutes instead of spending hours looking through several books. Another important advantage is that online information can be updated immediately. This is especially useful in fields such as science and medicine, where new discoveries are made regularly. As a result, people can learn the most recent and accurate information.

However, there also can occur some disadvantages. One major drawback is that not all information on the internet is reliable. Some websites publish incorrect or misleading information, which can confuse readers. In addition, humans spend too much time using digital devices, and this may reduce their interest in reading books. Despite these problems, people can avoid them by using trusted websites and checking information from different sources.

In conclusion, although storing knowledge on the internet has some disadvantages, I believe that its benefits are much greater. It provides quick access to information, allows knowledge to be updated easily, and helps people to learn efficiently. Therefore, the advantages of storing knowledge online clearly outweigh the disadvantages.
