A few years ago, people used to attend their workplace, but currently, with the help of technology, they tend to work through online platforms. In this essay, I will discuss the points for and against this idea.
The biggest advantage that this method would bring, would definitely be a decrease in air pollution. Besides the heavy traffic in the morning, it can have a significant impact on air quality as well. Additionally, the process of getting ready for work and attending the workplace can be time-consuming. Therefore, by continuing the job at home, workers could save hours of their time every day.
However, there are also many disadvantages to working from home. Most importantly, the impacts on mental health can be significant. Separation from the workplace will decrease networking and communication, so they cannot gain first-hand experience. Especially for inexperienced employees, it can be problematic. For instance, it could hinder their professional development and prevent them from building important relationships in the workplace.
To sum up, there are both negative and positive aspects to virtual jobs, which mostly depend on the worker’s situation. In my view, attending the setting can be more beneficial for employees in general.
