Modern societies along with the changes in lifestyles have paved the way for significant differences in terms of how societies work and what people are expected to perform creating in each role men and women have to play in contemporary households. One such change is both parents going to work to earn a living. Some people view this in negative light however many accept this as the new normal due to the current living conditions.
With the rise in expenditures along with stagnant incomes there is no doubt that both parents are expected to work. The main reason certain individuals find this as a negative development is because, in some families this has led to children being abandoned in their households with clearly no supervision. This has brought in several issues in child’s development and personalities in later life, which has become a serious social concern in modern society. Though this might seem like a valid argument, that when parents leave for work, they are being raised with little to no support from their parents, which has led to children involving unnecessary activities, like addictions to phones and social media creating problems in their education and development. However several occasions have proven that this can be avoided with engagements from the parents. The key to this problem is both parents need to manage their work along with the family life.
Being born and raised in a household where both parents go to work, in my personal experience, I find this as a positive development where having more income with a higher standard of living as a better option with the existing economic conditions. On the other hand, having a good standard of living will in fact provide the opportunity for the parents to afford certain facilities which will allow parents to engage more with their children while continuing their professional careers. For an example they can take the kids to see a place that they like or engage in more activities as a family like going for a picnic. Hence having both parents work rather would provide the opportunities for the families in many levels than having negative consequences.
