There is a growing trend where most public figures are often viewed as role models, especially for the young generations. While this trend can pose certain challenges, particularly changing youngsters’ behaviors if they follow ill-mannered famous individuals, I personally regard it as mostly advantageous, providing a source of inspiration for personal and professional growth.
One concerning issue associated with famous idols as role models is that they can sometimes impact teenagers’ characters negatively. As some public figures, mostly including Instagram influencers, singers, actors, and even athletes, show toxic personal traits like promoting drinking alcohol, antisocial norms, and unethical characters, in on and off the field, they can have negative implications on teenagers and children who are more impressionable due to their undeveloped intelligence. This can lead to aggression, self-centered character, and bad habits like engaging in juvenile delinquency among some youngsters, ultimately spoiling their personalities and breeding antisocial citizens. For example, Conor McGreger, a famous UFC athlete, can alter his younger amateurs good behavioral patterns negatively because of his antisocial personalities to the point where teenagers may form a belief that winning costs at all. Thus, not all famous public figures can serve as good role models for the youth.
However, despite these drawbacks, I firmly believe that famous people often offer more significant values to young generations. Firstly, one significant advantage of public figures as role models is that they inspire young people to set ambitious goals and work hard to achieve them. When famous idols share their successful journeys, gained through dedication, determination, a positive mindset, and the relentless pursuit of excelling personally and professionally, their stories motivate the youth to follow their steps. Cristiano Ronaldo, a world-class footballer, can be a perfect case in point, who overcame challenges because of his commitment and dedication to become a global icon, which encourages young fans to prioritize hard work and discipline over talent to succeed. Beyond this, many famous individuals advocate for important social issues to address, fostering awareness and activism among the younger generation. For instance, most entrepreneurs and media influencers engage in philanthropic endeavors, serving as role models for younger individuals to care about societal problems. From these perspectives, these positive influences of famous public icons not only drive the youth to achieve their ambitions but also inspire them to make meaningful contributions to society.
In conclusion, while some famous people can have negative implications by changing younger individuals’ character, I am more convinced that their positive influences as role models are more substantial in terms of motivating them to achieve their goals and contributing to societal development.
